FFCMH Honours Scholarship awardee – Congratulations Mr Simon Tyler

Simon TylerThe Centre congratulates Mr Simon Tyler on being awarded a Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men’s Health Honours Scholarship for 2017.

Simon will be undertaking an Honours degree in Psychological Science at the University of Adelaide, having completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology Major)Simon’s Supervisors are Dr Sean Martin, Dr Phillip Tully and Professor Deborah Turnbull.

Depression is under diagnosed in men.  An area of critical research is to better understand the relationship between physical symptoms and mental health in men, and how this may be applied to develop better diagnostic tools. Simon will therefore be exploring the links between lower urinary tract symptoms, that are very common in men, and depression.

Simon will be based at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.
