Prepare to publish your MyUni course!

Excitement is building on campus, as O’Week is nearly upon us. This marks a pivotal time in preparations for the delivery of courses prior to the commencement of Semester 1, 2019. Students are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see what they will be learning. In order for this to happen, each course must be published in MyUni.

However, before you publish, there are many items to consider prior to publishing to provide students with a positive student experience. The Learning Enhancement and Innovation team have taken the guess work out of preparing to publish your course to students.

There is an easy to follow checklist to guide you through step by step all of the items to consider before making the course available to students.

New this year in MyUni, is the addition of Course Readings, a seamless integration of library resources into your MyUni course site. Make sure that you have sent through your reading list to the Library or upload your readings directly to the Course Reading site. Then, students will be able to access readings from the first day of study.

If you have made changes to the course or you are teaching the course for the first time, then now is the time to discuss course design with one of the expert members of the Learning Design team. Even if you are not new to teaching, you can consider new approaches for 2019. You can book an appointment online and one of our highly skilled staff will be more than happy to meet with you.

Once the course is published, remember to send out an announcement to students welcoming them to the course. This is also an opportunity to set expectations around study habits and assessment requirements for the course.

Taking the time for these preparations now will save time later on. Remember to publish the course prior to Monday, 25 February 2019.
