Appointing Australia’s highest judges deserves proper scrutiny

In an article published on The Conversation, Dr Gabrielle Appleby, Deputy Director of the Public Law and Policy Research Unit, explains the appointment process for judges of the High Court of Australia. In examining the appointment process, Dr Appleby considers whether judges should also be representative of the community that their rulings affect and what role politics plays in judicial appointments.
