Alexander von Humboldt Foundation: Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award

The Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung/Foundation annually grants up to three research awards to internationally renowned academics from all non-European countries in recognition of their outstanding academic performance in applied research to date

Prize, Project Funding & Duration

The award amount totals €45,000 (approx AUD $63,600). In addition, award winners will be invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing with a specialist colleague at one of the Fraunhofer Institutes in Germany. The project duration of six to twelve months may be divided into segments.

Eligibility

Scientists and scholars from all non-European countries, who completed their doctorates less than 18 years ago, who are internationally recognised for their achievements in the field of applied research, and who in future are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements which will have a seminal influence on their discipline beyond their immediate field of work, are eligible to be nominated for a Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award.

Submission Requirements

Nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis, submitted directly to the Sponsor.
