Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences Roadshow

Presented by the inaugural president of the Academy, Professor Ian Frazer.

The Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences is a newly established learned Academy
that aims to be an important part of the health and medical scientific and policy landscape of Australia.

It’s mission is: ‘to promote health and medical research and its translation to enable a healthier community in Australia and the world’.

The Academy serves three broad purposes outlined as of high priority in the recent McKeon report on Health
and Medical Research:

• Mentoring the next generation of clinician researchers.
• Providing independent advice to government and others on issues relating to evidence based
medical practice and medical research.
• Providing a forum for discussion on progress on medical research with an emphasis on translation
of research into practice.
