Australian Federation of Graduate Women (AFGW): Georgina Sweet and Barbara Hale Fellowships 2016

The AFGW Georgina Sweet Fellowship is offered every second year to women graduates who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia and are enrolled for a PhD degree by research in any Australian university. The funds are to be used for a specific project or purpose for PhD research in any field.

The AFGW Barbara Hale Fellowship was made possible by a generous bequest from the estate of Miss Hale and is awarded annually.

Funding & Duration

AFGW Georgina Sweet Fellowship
$5,000 is available for 6 to 12 months of work. It is intended to enhance the original research or study on which a postgraduate applicant is already engaged. First year doctoral students and applicants just beginning their research are not eligible.

AFGW Barbara Hale Fellowship
$8,000 is available for 6 to 12 months of work. It is intended to enhance the original research on which a postgraduate applicant is already engaged. First year doctoral students and applicants just beginning their research are not eligible.

Eligibility

Women students in any branch of learning may apply.

The AFGW Georgina Sweet Fellowship is offered for the second and subsequent years of a doctoral program. First year doctoral students do not qualify.

The AFGW Barbara Hale Fellowship is offered to women graduates who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia and are enrolled for a PhD degree by research in any Australian university. The funds are to be used for a specific project or purpose for PhD research in any field. The Fellowship is offered for the second and subsequent years of a doctoral program. First year doctoral students do not qualify.

Submission Requirements & Internal Due Date

  • Applications must be submitted for internal review by 24 May 2016.
  • Submitted applications must be accompanied by a signed and completed copy of the University’s Grant Application Cover Sheet.
  • Applications may be emailed to the Research Branch unless otherwise specified.
  • Please contact the Research Branch if you intend applying for this scheme.
