The Australian Academy of Science invites applications from Australian early- and mid-career researchers (EMCRs) to participate in the 2016 US–Indonesia Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium.
The topics to be discussed this year include:
- big data and marine conservation
- green chemistry
- mass extinction and citizen science
- non-communicable disease and ageing
- robotics and information systems/innovation
- social decision making/behavioural economics
Funding & Duration
The event will be held in Malang, East Java, Indonesia from 1-4 August 2016 and will include a three-day symposium as well as relevant cultural site visits and social networking opportunities.
Up to 10 successful applicants from Australia will be selected to participate in the US–Indonesia Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium. Participation costs will be covered and include:
- A return economy flight from Sydney, Australia to Malang, East Java, Indonesia
- Domestic flights from home city in Australia to Sydney (if required)
- Five nights’ accommodation in Malang
- All meals and ground transportation
- Visa application fee
Eligibility
The candidate must:
- be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident and must be living in Australia at the time of the event
- be 45 years or younger at the time of the meeting
- hold a PhD degree or equivalent
- be able to travel to Indonesia on 31 July 2016 to join the US and Indonesian scientists at the symposium and attend the full program of events, returning to Australia on 5 August 2016
- hold a passport valid until at least 31 January 2017.
