Australian-American Fulbright Commission: Fulbright Australian Scholarships 2017/18

The Fulbright Program in Australia, and around the world, has a rich history and legacy in the support of educational excellence. Established by the United States government in 1946, the Program is one of the largest and most prestigious educational scholarship programs in the world.

Scholarships at postdoctoral, professional, senior scholar and distinguished chair levels are available:


  • Applicants must be an Australian citizen
  • Applicants cannot hold dual US-Australian citizenship
  • Applicants may be eligible to apply for more than one scholarship
  • For those applying in 2016 for the 2017 round, successful applicants must undertake a program between 1st July 2017 and 30th June 2018
  • Successful applicants must travel to the US on a J-1 visa. Please be aware that strict residency constraints apply, including a two year home residency requirement upon return to Australia
