The Research Fellowships scheme-specific funding rules for funding commencing in 2017 included the expectation for professors to apply at Principal Research Fellow (PRF) and Senior Principal Research Fellow (SPRF) levels, unless a suitable ‘justification’ was provided.

As linking this ‘justification’ had unintended consequences, the requirement of professors being expected to apply at PRF and SPRF levels will be removed for the next funding round.

These and other adjustments to the Research Fellowships funding scheme will be highlighted in the revised Funding Rules for this scheme, to be published shortly.
