Recently the Australian Research Council (ARC) consulted on proposed changes to the ARC Open Access Policy and accompanying FAQs.
The ARC has taken into consideration and incorporated much of the feedback provided, and the ARC Open Access Policy has now been finalised and available on the ARC website.
The revisions have provided significant clarification, including by making the overall wording more direct, making terminology internally consistent, and by separating out the policy’s elements and requirements into clearly labelled sections. It also clarifies the policy’s purpose, scope and commencement, as well as providing a summary statement outlining the policy’s central requirements.
Note: the requirement for any research output arising from ARC funded research to be made openly accessible within a twelve (12) month period from the publication date has not changed. This remains aligned with the National Health and Medical Council’s (NHMRC) requirements.
