Australian Trade and Investment Commission: Bio Bridge Initiative

The Bio-Bridge Initiative is a partnership between Australia and the Texas Medical Centre (TMC) in Houston, USA.

The aim is to create a two way flow of capital and resources, through collaborations in research, clinical trials and commercialisation.

The partnership links Australian firms and ingenuity to TMC – the largest medical centre within the largest health market in the world – to develop a sustainable growth platform for Australian innovation in medical devices, diagnostics and digital health.

The Texas Medical Center Accelerator program (TMCx)

The Bio-Bridge Initiative provides Australian medical technology firms a place in the four month Texas Medical Center (TMC) Accelerator Program (TMCx) .

This allows startups a workspace within the world’s largest medical center, access to a network of over 120 expert advisers from the 21 Texas Medical Center hospitals and a tailored curriculum, to clinically validate products and establish US market fit for their solutions.

Invitation to Participate

As part of the short term objective of the Bio-Bridge initiative, TMC invites 4-6 Australian innovative SMEs into the TMC Accelerator program (TMCx). This is a competitive process, however Australian companies are invited through a separate process where you will compete and be assessed against other Australian firms only.

This program is offered at NO participation cost to successful companies and TMC does not retain equity.

Applications

The application process for the next TMCx Digital Health Australia cohort will close on 17 November 2017.

Successful applicants will travel to Houston for a February 2018 start.
