The US Department of Defense, under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, invites applications for its computers and humans exploring software security funding opportunity. This supports innovative research proposals to develop techniques and systems that will substantially accelerate software vulnerability research for complex software.
The CHESS programme is divided into five technical areas: entitled human collaboration, vulnerability discovery, voice of the offence, control team, and integration, test, and evaluation.
Funding & Duration
The level of funding for individual awards depends on the quality of the proposals received and the availability of funds.
Eligibility
DARPA welcomes engagement from all responsible sources capable of satisfying the Government’s needs, including academia (colleges and universities); businesses (large, small, small disadvantaged, etc.); other organisations (including non-profit); entities (foreign, domestic, and government); minority institutions; and others.
US and non-US organisations may apply.

- 3 May 2018 – Abstracts must be submitted online at https://baa.darpa.mil/
- 1 June 2018 – full applications submitted for internal review.
