Advanced Notice of Funding – US NIH National Human Genome Research Institute: Novel genomic technology development (R01 & R21 – clinical trials not allowed)

The National Human Genome Research Institute seeks grant applications to catalyse major advances in genomics through technology development (beyond developing nucleic acid sequencing technologies).

The goal is to provide a mechanism for support of very novel and high impact work from across this gamut of genomics technology development.

This initiative seeks to support technologies that will have a major impact in the next five to seven years. The following mechanisms are available to Australian researchers:

R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed

  • Funding: An applicant may request direct costs of up to US $700,000 (approx. AUD $930,000) per year.
  • Duration: The scope of the proposed project should determine the project period. The maximum project period is 4 years.

R21 Clinical Trial Not Allowed

  • Funding: An applicant may request direct costs of up to US $200,000 (approx. AUD $266,000) per year and no more than US $400,000 (approx. AUD $531,000) for the entire budget period  per year.
  • Duration: The scope of the proposed project should determine the project period. The maximum project period is 3 years.

Eligibility

Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Institutions) are eligible to apply.
