US Department of Defense Peer Reviewed Orthopaedic Research Program FY2018

This Program challenges the scientific community to address the most significant gaps in care for the leading burden of injury and for facilitating return to duty, by funding innovative, high-impact, clinically-relevant research to advance optimal treatment and rehabilitation from neuromusculoskeletal injuries (excluding spinal cord injuries), sustained during combat or combat-related activities.

The awards listed below will be supported for the Financial Year 2018.

Applied Research Awards

  • Eligibility – Independent investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent)
  • Funding – Maximum funding of USD $750,000 (approx. AUD $1.01M) for total costs (includes direct and indirect costs)
  • Duration – Maximum period of performance is 3 years

Clinical Trial Award

  • Eligibility – Independent investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent)
  • Funding – Maximum funding of USD $3M (approx. AUD $4.05M) for total costs (includes direct and indirect costs)
  • Duration – Maximum period of performance is 4 years

Clinical Translational Research Award

  • Eligibility – Independent investigators at all academic levels (or equivalent)
  • Funding – Maximum funding of USD $2M (approx. AUD $2.7M) for direct costs (plus indirect costs)
  • Duration – Maximum period of performance is 4 years
