Foundation Fighting Blindness: Ted and Elaine Welp Enhanced Career Development Award

The Foundation Fighting Blindness invites applications for the Ted and Elaine Welp enhanced career development award. This supports enhanced research and clinical training in inherited orphan retinal degenerative diseases.

Funding & Duration

Awards are worth up to USD $170,000 (approx. AUD $236,000) per year for a maximum period of three years.


Applicants must hold an MD or MD PhD, have successfully completed an ophthalmology residency or equivalent training programme and hold a full-time tenure-track or equivalent appointment with a commitment by the host institution for five years. Host institutions may be any institution with a well-established record of research and career development relating to inherited orphan retinal degenerative diseases.
