Russell Sage Foundation: Integrating Biology and Social Science Knowledge

The Russell Sage Foundation, in collaboration with the Ford Foundation, invites proposals for its integrating biology and social science knowledge programme. This supports innovative social science research on social and economic outcomes that improves understanding of the interactive mechanisms by which environmental influences affect biological mechanisms, and vice versa.

Funding & Duration

Project awards are each worth up to USD $175,000 (approx. AUD $242,000) for a maximum period of two years.

Presidential awards of up to USD $35,000 (approx. AUD $48,000) each are also available.


All applicants must have a doctorate degree, or a strong career background that establishes their ability to conduct high-level, peer-reviewed scholarly research. Early career scholars are encouraged to apply for presidential awards. All nationalities are eligible to apply and applicants do not have to reside in the US. Students may not apply.
