Society in Science: Branco Weiss Fellowship

Society in Science invites applications for the Branco Weiss fellowship. This supports postdoctoral researchers after their PhD and before their first faculty appointment.

Funding & Duration

Up to ten fellowships, worth CHF 100,000 (approx. AUD $137,000) per year each, are available for a period of five years. The fellowship consists of a two-year pioneer phase and a subsequent three-year exploitation phase, with a review after the second year. Funding may cover salary, equipment, travel costs, consumables, personnel and more.


Applicants must provide evidence of achievements in their scientific field and be willing to engage in a dialogue on relevant social, cultural, political or economic issues across the frontiers of their particular discipline. They must have completed their PhD by the application deadline and have a strong record of achievement in their chosen field. Applicant must have been born after 1 January 1985.
