North American Spine Society: Research Grants

The following grants from the North American Spine Society are currently accepting applications.

Research Grants

Research Grants support basic, clinical or translational research projects in spine-related specialties.

  • Eligibility: Qualified applicants from any field and of any nationality may apply. New investigators are especially encouraged to apply. Medical residents may be considered provided that they have a mentor or faculty support. Applicants need not be NASS members.

Young Investigator Grants

Young Investigator Grants support any spine-related projects conducted by young investigators.

  • Eligibility: MD applicants must be within five years of completion of training, while PhD applicants must be within five years of their postdoctoral training. There are no age limits for applicants. International candidates may apply and they need not be society members.

Non-traditional and Non-surgical Treatment Grants

Non-traditional and Non-surgical Treatment Grants support research of disc-related or neuropathic back pain by non-surgical techniques. Funds must be used for new, non-traditional methods of non-surgical treatment of such back and neck pain, and radiculopathy.

  • Eligibility: New investigators are encouraged to apply, although any qualified applicant in any speciality may be considered. International candidates may apply and they need not be members of the society.

Funding & Duration

Grants are generally awarded up to $USD $40,000 per year (approx. AUD $55,000) over a period of one to two years.
