The Parkinson Canada Research Program funds research into the cure, cause, progression, improved treatment and/or understanding of Parkinson’s disease, related disorders including Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), other Parkinson’s conditions and the impact these diseases have on society.
New Investigator Awards support continued growth and revitalisation in the fields of Parkinson’s research in Canada by enabling new researchers to enter Parkinson’s research, without having to compete with established researchers for research funding.
Funding & Duration
Awards are each worth CAD $45,000 (approx. AUD $46,000) per year for two years.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold an MD or PhD and be graduates of a university recognised by Parkinson Canada. They must be university faculty members with a position ranking of associate professor or less, in the first five years of their career, conducting research in a Canadian post-secondary institution or their affiliated institutions, or other equivalent organisation.
Applicants in junior faculty positions outside of Canada, and scientists transferring into the fields of Parkinson’s research from another field, are also eligible.
