The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources welcomes the Government of Japan’s public call for proposals to participate in its Moonshot Research and Development Program, a new $1B+ research funding initiative. This program is aimed at addressing the challenges posed by Japan’s ageing population and climate change through the development of frontier technologies and areas of research including Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), automation, robotics, AgriTech, MedTech, healthcare, and space applications. Australian researchers and companies are eligible to compete for funding through the Moonshot program based on criteria prescribed by Japan, specific to each goal.
