The SA Science Excellence and Innovation Awards recognise outstanding achievements in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine (STEMM) including remarkable teachers who are inspiring and training the future STEMM workforce.
Award categories
Nominations are now open for six award categories:
- South Australian Scientist of the Year
- South Australian Innovator of the Year
- STEMM Educator of the Year
- Primary or Secondary School Level
- University or Registered Training Organisation Level
- Excellence in Science and Industry Collaboration
- PhD Research Excellence.
Eligibility
Nominees must be Australian citizens, or hold permanent residence status. The majority of work or research for which you are nominating must have been undertaken in South Australia. For detailed eligibility criteria and further details, please refer to the Nomination Guidelines.
Value of the award
The South Australian Scientist of the Year and Innovator of the Year will both receive a prize to the value of $25,000. The winners of the remaining categories will receive a prize to the value of $10,000 to use towards their career development. Award recipients are publicly recognised and celebrated for their achievements. Each recipient or team receives a trophy designed by a local artist.
Submission requirements & due date
Applications are submitted directly to the Sponsor by 5pm Wednesday, 11 August 2021.
There are two ways to nominate for an Award:
- Self-nomination
- Nomination of others
Please note: nominations must be endorsed via Research Services prior to submission. Nominations will either be endorsed by Deputy Vice Chancellor Research (DVCR) or Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic (DVCA) dependent on which award you are applying for.
