About this event
Hosted by the The Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation, the Solving Sanfilippo Symposium brings together Australian researchers, clinicians, and their collaborators working on Sanfilippo syndrome (mucopolysaccharidosis type III) and related conditions and disease mechanisms in order to share results, research-progress, and discuss emerging research directions.
Time will also be dedicated to a discussion of the recently launched Global Roadmap for Sanfilippo Therapeutics, with the goal of developing and prioritising initiatives for the implementation of this Roadmap in Australia, within an international context.
The Symposium sessions also reflect the research pillars of the Roadmap, with both Australian and international speakers addressing these key themes:
- STOP – treating the root cause of Sanfilippo, including gene therapy, substrate reduction therapy and chaperones
- TREAT – targeting the underlying pathology of Sanfilippo, including neuroinflammation, autophagy, protein aggregates and biomarkers
- MANAGE – targeting the symptoms and impact of Sanfilippo on individuals and families.
