Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations (ACADI) PhD and ECR Grants 2023

Established through MRFF funding from the Australian Government’s Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) program, the Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations (ACADI) is a virtual collaborative research centre based at the University of Melbourne.

The University of Adelaide have a Core Partnership Agreement with ACADI (partners across Australia). As a Core Partner, the University of Adelaide’s PhD students and ECRs are eligible to apply for the below, newly opened, grant opportunities. The grants are offered to researchers from any field (e.g. science, engineering, economics, medicine/allied health) whose work aligns with ACADI’s three key priority areas:

  1. Diabetic kidney disease
  2. Peripheral neuropathy and diabetic foot syndrome
  3. Short-term complications of hypoglycaemia and/or hyperglycaemic hyperosmolar syndrome (HHS) and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Priority will be given to applications that include any of the following elements:

  1. Research projects that engage or involve people living with diabetes.
  2. Indigenous community involvement or demonstrable impact for Indigenous communities.
  3. Applicants that come from a non-medical background, such as allied health, science or engineering.

PhD grants:

  • $31,200 for a 12-month period.
  • Paid directly to the student to contribute to living expenses.
  • Applicants must be placed at an ACADI core partner, and an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Submissions close 12pm Monday 14th August.

ECR grants:

  • $40,000 for a 12-month period.
  • The grant will contribute directly to the specified research activity.
  • Submissions close 12pm Monday 14th August.
  • Applicants must be placed at an ACADI core partner, and an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • One grant is reserved for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants
