Merchandise Exports February 2017

Latest merchandise trade data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today indicates that the value of South Australia’s international goods exports rose by 21 per cent to $986 million in February 2017. In comparison, the value of national goods exports rose by 2.4 per cent to $23,341 million.

While South Australia enjoyed a strong export result for February, the state’s merchandise export performance has been underwhelming over the past year, reflecting some weakness through the middle of 2016. The total value of goods exports in the 12 months to February 2017 was down 8.2 per cent compared to the previous 12 month period. In contrast, the value of national goods exports rose by 9.1 per cent between these periods.
