Retail Sales April 2017

South Australian retail sales showed continued strength in April, following a solid result in the March quarter. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the value of retail sales in seasonally adjusted terms rose by 1.1 per cent in April 2017. In comparison, national retail sales rose by 1.0 per cent. The latest monthly national result is a solid rebound after consecutive falls in February and March.

Looking at changes over the past year, trend data indicates that the value of South Australian retail sales in April 2017 was 3.9 per cent higher than in April 2016. National retail sales rose 2.7 per cent over this period.
