A Further Selection of First World War Documents

A previous post, ‘The University and the Great War‘,¬† highlighted a remarkable series of records held by the University Archives relating to the First World War. Archives Series 73 consists of several hundred letters from the families of serving staff, students and graduates in response to a circular inquiring as to their well-being from University Registrar Charles Hodge. Many are fascinating, providing information on the War service of students, staff and graduates, and more broadly the social conditions and attitudes of the country almost a century ago.

This is a rich collection of records and I am currently uploading  a significant number of new images to the Archival Allsorts Document Library.
