Children’s University Opportunity for USC Students

Children’s University Australia is an international partner of Children’s University Trust (UK) and managed by the University of Adelaide.

It offers:

  • superior educational experiences for children aged between 7-14 years
  • volunteering opportunities for 15-18 year olds outside of school
  • formal certificates and graduations.

The model leverages local educational and learning activity providers (including sports clubs, museums, galleries and school clubs) and has a strong emphasis on experience as a significant learning tool, acknowledging the value of the range of different learning experiences and environments in which children engage.

Children’s University offers a Passport to Volunteering for 15-18 year olds which is a great way for older students to still be involved in Children’s University.

In Term 3, in a new partnership with Children’s University and The University of Adelaide, USC students will be offering learning opportunities to external South Australian students (aged 7 -14 years) who may not have access to any educational role models in their families and/or immediate environment. USC students can volunteer and assist in running learning programs, graduations and take ownership of some of the programs if they choose.

Volunteering hours are recorded in a Passport to Volunteering in which hours are accrued. Volunteers will also graduate and be rewarded for their contributions to the Children’s University program through the award of certificates held at formal ceremonies.
