Education Matters at University Senior College

We believe in the power of students discovering the excitement of learning and unleashing their potential.

University Senior College’s 400 Year 11 and 12 students are an eclectic mix of vibrant young people who come from more than 80 feeder schools across the greater metropolitan area.  The transition to USC is well structured and every student undergoes a supportive and comprehensive orientation program. USC is a new start for every student and everyone arrives with concerns and uncertainty. However, to be amongst a cohort of like-minded students in such a stimulating and dynamic learning environment offers a powerful formula for each individual to build resilience and develop the skills of an independent learner.

Students can take charge of their learning.

University Senior College is a senior secondary experience unlike any other.  Situated on the campus of the University of Adelaide, USC provides a unique transition to tertiary education. All students are encouraged to develop their skills and understanding, but most importantly to take responsibility for their learning in an adult learning environment.

Research tells us that quality teaching is a major driver of successful student learning outcomes.

At USC we maximise the influence of quality teaching in several ways:

  • Appoint highly qualified and experienced subject specialist teachers
  • Provide one-to-one support for students alongside formal lessons
  • Have a highly interactive online learning management system

University Senior College was established in 2002 and in October this year concluded extensive negotiations with the University of Adelaide to extend our formal Agreement beyond 2026. Along with the total refurbishment of a dedicated building on campus scheduled for completion in the near future, the school is truly embedded into the fabric of the University and can offer a very distinctive pathway through the senior secondary years.

It is noteworthy that:

  • USC has become the largest feeder school into the university sector in SA.
  • Each year many USC students secure tertiary scholarships and entry to high demand courses.
  • Most USC graduates receive their first preference offer into university.

Your future could start here and we invite you to come and look at the school and meet with staff and students on one of our regular Open Days.
