Our entire cohort of Year 12 Economics students was recently treated to a lunchtime Economics briefing conducted by the South Australian Centre of Economic Studies (SACES).
The keynote speaker was Professor Warwick McKibbin, who addressed the issue of the possible impact on Australia of the Trump administration’s economic policies.
The students had a very positive experience. James reflected on how the theoretical concepts introduced in class inform actions on the national and global stage. Anushri found that the address complemented her studies of Australian and International Politics, while both Georgia and Maggie found the structure easy to follow and interesting. Their comments were echoed by many others, with Michael feeling excited about learning more on this issue as the year unfolds. Naturally many students also commented on the excellent lunch and the opportunity to participate in the adult world as equals.
University Senior College is indebted to Associate Professor Michael O’Neil, the head of SACES, for inviting our students to partake in this very special experience.
