Adelaide Law Students visit the Tonsley Innovation District to learn about Property law

Associate Professor David Brown, in collaboration with Lisa Bielby, Lynch Meyer Lawyers, Carsten Dethlefsen, and Renewal SA, recently took his postgraduate class, Perspectives on Property Law and Society, to visit the multi-award winning Tonsley Innovation District. The course material was front-loaded to prepare students for this case study where they were able to then see and hear about the myriad practical and legal challenges and arrangements in this multi-use development, one of the most complex ever in SA. After being treated to a tour of the site with the Project Director Vincent Rigter, the class had a presentation from Lisa and her team, and with Carsten, the former Tonsley Commercial Development Manager. Lisa even arranged for the students to draft land titles applications to round off the evening! Thanks to all involved in this collaboration with the legal profession and government to give our students a fantastic opportunity to see the impact ‘on the ground’ of the law learnt in class.
