Thanks so much to His Honour Geoff Muecke for judging the advocacy exercises for the Sentencing and Criminal Justice students. His experience, humanity and sense of humour provided students with invaluable insights into the sentencing process and with an enormous boost to developing their skills as criminal practitioners. It was uplifting to hear His Honour’s comments to staff at the end of the submissions that ‘each of the participants displayed an understanding of the topic of sentencing that was surprising for people with so little experience’ and that some of the performances were ‘similar to those made by experienced counsel in the superior courts.’ Well done to the students involved.
