Ethical Advice for Judges: American and Australian Perspectives

The Colorado Judicial Ethics Advisory Board (JEAB) is an 11-member Board appointed by the Justices of the Colorado Supreme Court to offer ethical guidance to judges. Professor Hart will discuss the workings of this Board as well as its interaction with other institutions that participate in the regulation of judicial conduct in Colorado. She will also compare the Colorado system to those in other U.S. states and to the U.S. federal system. Each of these systems is constrained in some measure by the constitutional foundations of the judicial system and the flexibility — or lack of flexibility — that the relevant constitution gives for monitoring and addressing judicial ethics.
