Project Summary:
I am researching how national female artists in the United Arab Emirates are affected by other representations of themselves, and how they represent themselves to others. This work is important because it stresses how both negative and positive representations affect different groups, and how these representations are linked to power and agency in the world. I have recently published a travel memoir about this topic called Abu Dhabi Days, Dubai Nights.
