Your Stories – Proserpine State School, QLD

Submitted by Karen Jordan, Digital Technologies Teacher, Prosperine State School, QLD

In Term 2, 2018, Proserpine State School was lucky to be able to borrow the Ozobot kit from the CSER Lending Library. The children have had an awesome time using the Ozobots in their Digital Technologies lessons.

Every week, each child has a Digital Technology lesson with a specialist teacher and during these lessons, classes from Year 1 to Year 6 all had the opportunity to use the Ozobots in different ways.

Years 1 and 2 used the robots with the line coding and worked their way from introductory lessons in how to code up to more challenging tasks of knocking over 10 bowling pins using the colour line codes.

Years 4 – 6 did their coding on the computers with challenges moving through difficulty levels. Their final challenge was using a fairy tale map to move the Ozobot through a set of instructions which took them on a journey through the fairytale.

We can’t thank CSER enough for the opportunity to use the robots in the classroom. The children are going to miss them when they are gone.

They all agreed that Proserpine State School should get their own set now!!!
