The Economics of Mr Trump

Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on the 20th January 2016 (US time). In a focus article in the SA Centre for Economic Studies’s December 2016 Economic Briefing Report, Darryl Gobbett considered the macroeconomic implications of Donald Trump’s economic policies. The economic consequences of various broad policy proposals were considered, including in relation to taxation, infrastructure, defence, international trade, energy, healthcare and immigration. Specific implications for Australian businesses were also identified.

A copy of the focus article can be downloaded here. Access to focus articles is usually restricted to Corporate Members. However, given the broader community interest and uncertainty regarding a Trump administration, we have decided to make the focus article publicly available on this occasion.
